Dive In... Testimonial by Gradys María Tinoco

Tal’s magic is indescribable. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing her for a relatively short period of time, a bit over a year and a half, yet the depth of what we’ve shared in those months is comparable to the friendship of a lifetime. She is not only an artist, but she, herself, is a work of art. True to her craft, her attention to detail is impeccable and everything she does carries intention and strong prayer. This can not only be seen, but deeply felt, during her Water Blessing ceremonies, or her Dive In Outdoor Performances.

Merleau-Ponty wrote ' I say of a thing that it moved, but my body moves itself, my ' movement deploys itself, it radiates itself.

In this text, Nitza Eshed discusses phenomenology as a key of understanding in regards to Tal's work. It's complex nature and moral implications, but mostly its ability to draw attention back to the body as a centre of perception and action. The intertwining, inseparable parts of being and seeing, being and sensing are highlighted as part of the core of Tal Eshed's practice.  

In this transient blink of an eye we call life, the fleeting moment of earthly existence, we choose to pursue the ephemeral rather than the eternal, the physical rather than the mental, selfish desire rather than compassion. And, while we do not know where we come from and we do not know to where we go, we search and search for answers to this, roaming through life like a thirsty caravan through the desert.
